De Ullingse Bergen, a serene holiday park nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Sint Anthonis, The Netherlands, is making significant strides in sustainable energy. With a commitment to reducing carbon footprints and enhancing energy efficiency, the park has integrated advanced solar solutions from Growatt, a global leader in distributed energy solutions. This case study explores the innovative solar installations at De Ullingse Bergen, focusing on the newly built solar carport equipped with Growatt's cutting-edge technology.

A Green Vision for the Future

De Ullingse Bergen has long been a haven for nature lovers, offering a tranquil escape amidst lush greenery and serene surroundings. The park's management recognized the growing need for sustainable energy solutions to meet its facilities' and visitors' increasing power demands. To pursue this vision, De Ullingse Bergen partnered with Abiks BV, a renowned installer, to implement a series of solar projects using Growatt's advanced photovoltaic (PV) systems.

Innovative Solar Carport: A Milestone in Sustainability

The latest addition to De Ullingse Bergen's sustainable infrastructure is a state-of-the-art solar carport. This innovative structure not only provides a dry and secure parking area for numerous vehicles but also powers multiple electric vehicle (EV) chargers. By harnessing the power of the sun, the carport contributes to a greener future, aligning with the park's commitment to environmental stewardship.

The solar carport features Growatt's MAX 80TL3 LV and MID 50KTL3-X2 inverters, known for their efficiency and reliability. These inverters are designed to optimize energy generation, ensuring that the carport meets the park's energy needs while minimizing environmental impact.

Previous Solar Installations: A Testament to Success

Before the solar carport, De Ullingse Bergen had already integrated three Growatt systems across various facilities:

  • Restaurant: Equipped with the MOD TL3-XH inverter, this installation supports the energy needs of the park's dining facilities. The MOD TL3-XH is a future-proof, battery-ready inverter that offers a low initial investment while maximizing energy yields with a DC/AC ratio of up to 2.0 and a maximum efficiency of 98.6%. It features dual MPPTs for optimal energy harvesting and includes Type II SPD on both AC and DC sides for enhanced safety. Additionally, it supports export limitation and offers an optional AFCI function, ensuring both safety and reliability in energy management.

  • Barn: The MID 25KTL3-X1 inverter powers the barn, significantly contributing to the park's overall energy efficiency. This inverter, part of the same series as the one used in the sanitary facilities, boasts a maximum efficiency of up to 98.8% and is equipped with 3 MPPTs for optimal energy harvesting. It ensures safety and reliability with Type II SPD on both DC and AC sides and an IP66 protection degree. Additionally, it offers an optional AFCI function and features intelligent string monitoring and online smart services for efficient operation and maintenance.

  • Sanitary Facilities: The MID 36KTL3-X inverter supports the sanitary facilities, providing sustainable energy that enhances the visitor experience. Similar to the barn's inverter, this model achieves a maximum efficiency of up to 98.8% but is distinguished by its 4 MPPTs, allowing for even more precise energy management. It shares the same safety and reliability features, including Type II SPD on DC and AC sides, IP66 protection, and an optional AFCI function. The intelligent string monitoring and online smart service further ensure seamless operation and maintenance.

These installations have collectively transformed De Ullingse Bergen into a model of sustainability, showcasing the park's dedication to renewable energy.

Technical Specifications and Economic Impact

The solar projects at De Ullingse Bergen boast impressive technical specifications and economic benefits:

  • Project Capacity: 130kW

  • Annual Power Generation: 150,000 kWh

  • Annual Revenue: €25,000

  • Local Electricity Price: €0.31/kWh

The integration of Growatt's solar solutions has not only reduced the park's reliance on traditional energy sources but also generated significant annual revenue, reinforcing the economic viability of sustainable energy investments.

Conclusion: A Bright Future Ahead

De Ullingse Bergen's partnership with Growatt and Abiks BV exemplifies the transformative power of renewable energy. By embracing solar technology, the park is paving the way for a sustainable future, setting a benchmark for holiday parks worldwide. As De Ullingse Bergen continues to enhance its energy infrastructure, it remains committed to preserving the natural beauty that makes it a cherished destination for visitors.
