Growatt reinforced its commitment to Brazil’s energy storage market during The smarter E South America 2026, showcasing solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial applications while strengthening engagement with installers, distributors, integrators, and customers from across the country.
Held from August 25 to 27 at Expo Center Norte in São Paulo, the event brought together leading players from the solar energy, energy storage, energy management, and e-mobility sectors. According to data released by the organizer, the 2026 edition welcomed around 50,000 visitors and more than 500 exhibitors. The exhibition area of ees South America, dedicated to batteries and energy storage systems, grew by 30% compared with the previous year, reflecting the increasing importance of this technology in the region’s energy transition.
Amid the high level of activity throughout the three-day exhibition, the Growatt booth welcomed professionals interested in photovoltaic generation, energy storage, backup power, and smart energy management solutions. Discussions at the event confirmed a trend the company has already been observing in the market: while the on-grid segment remains relatively stable, interest in battery-based systems continues to grow steadily in Brazil.
“We are moving toward energy storage. While the on-grid market remains relatively stable, energy storage is growing,” said Silvio Robusti, Product Marketing Manager at Growatt Brazil, during an interview at the exhibition.
The growth of solar energy has created a large installed base in Brazil that can incorporate batteries both in new projects and through retrofit applications. Industry data presented during the exhibition indicates that the country’s operational photovoltaic capacity has already exceeded 74.3 GW, of which approximately 51.69 GW comes from distributed generation, spread across more than 4.71 million grid-connected systems.
The residential segment accounts for around 26.56 GW of distributed photovoltaic capacity, while commercial and service applications represent approximately 14.10 GW. This established presence of solar generation in homes and businesses expands the opportunities for integration with energy storage systems.
In the residential market, demand for batteries is mainly driven by the need for greater energy security in the event of power outages. For users, storing energy generated during the day makes it possible to increase solar self-consumption, keep essential loads running during grid failures, and manage energy consumption more intelligently.
In the commercial and industrial segment, adoption is still in a maturing phase. Growatt is already receiving a growing number of inquiries and quotation requests, although some of these opportunities have not yet translated into installations. According to the company, many customers are beginning to better understand the applications, economic benefits, and operating possibilities of energy storage systems.
“We expect strong growth next year because customers are beginning to understand the solution better,” Robusti explained. For Growatt, 2026 represents an important period for the technical and commercial development of demand, preparing the market for a potential acceleration of C&I energy storage in 2027.
During The smarter E South America 2026, Growatt showcased a portfolio developed to address different needs in the Brazilian market.
For residential applications, the company highlighted energy storage solutions ranging from 3 kW to 12 kW, combined with low-voltage lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. These configurations can be used both in new solar installations and in retrofit projects, where users already have a photovoltaic system and decide to add batteries at a later stage.
For commercial establishments and industrial facilities, Growatt presented an all-in-one solution with 125 kW of power and 261 kWh of capacity. Integrated into a single unit, the system was developed to simplify deployment and support applications requiring greater operational continuity, smart energy management, and reduced dependence on diesel generators.
Many commercial and industrial consumers in Brazil still use diesel generators as their primary backup power source. In this context, combining photovoltaic generation with battery energy storage can reduce fuel consumption, operating costs, noise, and emissions, while also providing a faster response during grid outages.
“In the future, we expect the C&I segment to grow significantly because many commercial and industrial customers still rely on diesel generators. For this type of user, a solution combining solar energy and batteries can be much more efficient,” Robusti said.
The transition toward energy storage can already be seen in real projects supported by Growatt in Brazil. In addition to new installations, the company is identifying growing retrofit demand from homes and businesses that already have solar generation and want to add batteries.
One example is located in Ilhabela, in the state of São Paulo. The restaurant regularly relied on a generator set to maintain its operations. The initial configuration included a Growatt inverter and two battery modules with a total capacity of 10 kWh, but the diesel generator still needed to operate almost every day during business hours.
After the installation of a new inverter and the expansion of the battery bank, generator use was reduced to just one or two days per month, mainly during extended periods of rain. The establishment is already considering doubling the system capacity with the goal of completely eliminating the need for the generator.
The project demonstrates how the integration of solar energy and storage can improve continuity of supply and reduce dependence on fossil fuels — an application with particularly strong potential for restaurants, hotels, small businesses, rural properties, and industrial facilities.

In Brazil, Growatt’s current energy storage strategy is focused on the residential, commercial, and industrial segments. Although the company offers large-scale energy storage solutions globally, utility-scale projects and high-voltage substations are not yet part of the immediate focus of its Brazilian operations.
The priority is to develop a strong local ecosystem for distributed generation applications, supported by products tailored to the market, professional training, distribution networks, logistics infrastructure, and technical support.
This strategy responds to a market in which photovoltaic energy represents the vast majority of installed micro- and mini-distributed generation capacity. As this installed base continues to grow, energy storage is expected to play an increasingly important role in consumption management, backup power, increased self-consumption, and reduced dependence on the grid or diesel generators.
Growatt’s participation in The smarter E South America 2026 reinforces its long-term vision for Brazil. Beyond supplying inverters and batteries, the company aims to develop integrated solutions that connect solar generation, energy storage, and smart energy management.
As a global provider of distributed energy solutions, Growatt’s mission is to enable everyone to benefit from sustainable energy. Its vision is to build the world’s largest and smartest sustainable energy ecosystem for humanity, guided by the values of innovation, excellence, and customer focus.
To achieve this goal, the company will continue working closely with installers, distributors, integrators, and end users, combining technological innovation, local presence, and specialized support.
With demand continuing to mature throughout 2026, residential applications expanding, and more companies seeking alternatives to diesel generators, Growatt sees 2027 as a potential acceleration point for commercial and industrial energy storage in Brazil.
Solar energy has already secured a central role in Brazil’s electricity mix. Energy storage is now opening a new stage: transforming generated energy into a more flexible, intelligent, and readily available resource when homes and businesses need it most.
